Yat’s mission is to help users experience the internet through an innovative, engaging and personalized interface. Users can access all their favourite pages easily by simply entering a combo of emoji and it will take them to the right page. Similar to how DNS works for domain names, Yat allows users to purchase and register their own unique emoji strings to represent them online. These emoji strings can then be used in place of URLs or even as payment addresses in cryptocurrency applications. If you enter the emoji string of a company, you will be redirected to that company’s website. Or, if you enter the emoji string of a person, it will redirect to their website or social media profile.

How it works

The integration allows users to enter web addresses in the URL bar with just a string of emojis. This is what Yat calls ‘Emoji URLs’ that are attached to the respective websites. According to the company, Opera users can simply type in a string of emoji within the browser’s address bar. If that particular string is associated with a web page, it will redirect you to that site.  In addition, there are no limitations on what emoji you can use, which makes it possible for users to get redirected by a string of dancing lady emojis or clapping hands. The latest version of Opera also lets you use Emoji anywhere a font is supported. The new features are available on Windows, Mac and Linux. Opera users can use a single emoji in place of the link website. On a desktop browser, users can use the small pop-up on the URL bar to easily select emoji characters.

Opera decentralizing Web3

Unlike Mozilla and Vivaldi, the Internet browser Opera has embraced decentralized Web3 technology. Opera even has a Crypto Browser that puts Web3 projects at your fingertips. Opera, which came out recently with an innovative mobile browser that integrates Ethereum dApps, is also launching a Web3-friendly browser for Android phones. Users can also access their most-visited sites with one keystroke, and can use a custom shortcut to access an extension’s popup window. This new feature makes it possible to save a website using an Emoji as its display name. In addition, you can use Emojis in the search field and in bookmark names. Web 3 is the next generation of the internet. It will allow users to transact on decentralized networks without an intermediary, such as Facebook or Google. Web3, the emerging industry sector applying blockchain to online interactions, may prove to be even more significant than its predecessors. It remains to be seen which of these projects will stand the test of time. What are your thoughts about Opera integration with Yat emoji based web address?
