The answer is playing with your friends, provided the game you are playing allows multiplayer or co-op. And, as we all know, communication is key during gaming. There are plenty of means to speak to our teammates while enjoying an awesome gaming session, and Xbox fans can now use Discord.

Discord Voice Chat comes to Xbox

That being said, if you love playing multiplayer games on your Microsoft-powered Xbox console, you are about to receive some good news today. Not long ago, the Redmond tech giant announced that Discord Voice chat has now become available for the Xbox Insider community. Now, however, Microsoft officially began the rollout of the November Xbox update, and this one carries some important features. What exactly is that, you ask? Well, we’re talking about enhanced Discord voice capabilities, sale notifications, upgrades to cloud gaming, and much more. Even though Discord Voice officially arrived on Xbox consoles back in September, joining a voice channel required the use of a mobile device or a desktop before transferring the call to a linked console. That being said, know that, with the latest update, joining a Discord voice channel is now possible directly from a linked console. Xbox users can now access the feature by heading to Parties & chats in the guide and going through the Discord option.  Keep in mind that Discord’s Krisp noise suppression is also enabled by default on Xbox Series X|S consoles, removing any background noises and only transmitting voice communications. Furthermore, Xbox Cloud Gaming users on Windows PC and Mac, that use Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome, also have an upgrade coming to them in the form of controller rumble.  Microsoft The Redmond tech giant mentioned its Xbox Wireless Controller and even Sony’s DualShock 4 as suggestions, but any rumble-supporting controller should work here. Also included in the November update is the ability to purchase gifts straight from a wishlist of another user, as well as notifications for when games on the personal wishlist go on sale. There’s also a new Captures app in the November update as well, adding improved viewing, management, and editing capabilities for recorded clips. The company has also bumped up the bit rate for captures in 720p and 1080p, offering higher playback quality, and clips and screenshots can also be copied to an external drive straight from the app. Not to mention that live streaming from Xbox consoles has been improved too, since Microsoft has added the ability to begin Twitch, Lightstream, and Streamlabs streams straight from the console.

How can I use Discord on my Xbox?

To get a better understanding of how this works, once your Discord account is linked to Xbox, you can hop into a channel and communicate using Discord, just as you normally would. When you open the Discord mobile app, you’ll see a new option to Join on Xbox. Note that you’ll need the Xbox app to transfer voice chat from your Discord account to your Xbox. Thus, if you already have it installed, the Xbox app will launch and let you connect the Discord Voice chat to your Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One console. Please keep in mind that Discord’s safety standards will apply when chatting on Xbox consoles with Discord Voice, so avoid being toxic. Don’t be discouraged at the task of linking a Discord account on your Xbox, because its all pretty straightforward. In reality, all you have to do is press the Xbox button on your controller and navigate to the Parties & chat > Try Discord Voice on Xbox. After doing so you will see a QR code which you can scan to be directed to the Xbox and Discord apps so that you can link them.
